Terms & Conditions

Effective date: September 30, 2026

Outside Church is operated by RECLAIMED.US, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, 8122 Cohosh Ct, Raleigh, NC 27616-3344. Contact: hello@outsidechurch.org.

By creating an account or using Outside Church, you agree to these terms and to our Code of Conduct, which is part of them.

1. What Outside Church is

Outside Church helps believers find each other and meet in person. You can look for gatherings near you, say you are coming, and post your own.

What it is not. It is not a church. It is not a substitute for one. It does not broadcast sermons or services. And โ€” this matters โ€” it is not a vetting service. We do not run background checks on the people who post gatherings or on the people who attend them. We cannot tell you that a stranger is safe, and we never will.

2. Who can use it

Browsing needs no account. You need an account to post a gathering or to RSVP to one.

  • You must be at least 16 to hold an account.
  • You must be at least 21 to post a gathering.

We do not collect birthdays and we do not verify anyone’s age. Agreeing to these terms is your statement that you meet them. If you do not, you are using Outside Church against its terms.

One account per person. Give us a real email address you can receive mail at โ€” account activation and gathering verification both depend on it.

3. โ›” Gatherings are held in safe, public, outdoor spaces. No home meetings.

This is not negotiable and it is not a guideline.

Gatherings posted on Outside Church must be in public places the general public can see, find and join โ€” parks, beaches, courts, trails, pavilions, public patios, coffee shops.

You may not post a gathering at a private residence. Not your house, not your back yard, not your apartment, not “message me for the address.” We remove any gathering posted at a private home.

Two reasons, and we would rather say them plainly than hide behind policy:

  1. Safety. A stranger walking into a stranger’s home is a different risk from a stranger walking into a park, and we are not willing to arrange the first one.
  2. It is not what we are for. If what you want is a home group, a local church can offer you one with people who have been properly trained and vetted. We would rather send you there than pretend to be it.

We know people meet at a park and then decide to carry on somewhere private. That is your life and your judgment, and it is outside what Outside Church arranges or takes responsibility for.

4. If you post a gathering

You are the host. That means:

  • The details must be true โ€” the place, the date, the time, and what it actually is.
  • The contact address you attach must be real, and yours. This is how “report this gathering” reaches a real person.
  • Show up, or take it down. People will plan their Saturday around your post.
  • Your personal contact details stay private unless you choose otherwise. You may opt in to show that gathering’s phone or email to signed-in members. Use details you are comfortable giving to people you have not met.
  • You are responsible for what happens at your gathering. Not us.

5. If you attend a gathering

  • Meet in public. If the place has changed to somewhere private, you do not have to go.
  • Use your judgment, and bring someone if you would rather not arrive alone.
  • You are responsible for yourself, and for any minor you bring.
  • Call 911 in an emergency. Not us. We are not an emergency service and we cannot respond.

6. Minors

Gatherings are organized by adults. If you bring a child or a teenager to a gathering, you are responsible for them the entire time. Outside Church does not supervise anyone, does not screen attendees, and does not run children’s programs.

7. What you post

You keep ownership of what you write. You give us permission to show it in the app and on the site so the gathering can be found.

Do not post: anything false, anything commercial, anything sexual, anything that targets or endangers a child, anything that attacks a person or a group, anyone else’s private information, or a claim to represent a church or ministry that has not asked you to.

We can remove anything, and close any account, and we do not have to give notice first.

8. Reporting a problem

Report a gathering or a person in the app, or email hello@outsidechurch.org.

  • We require your email and a phone number. We do not accept anonymous reports. An anonymous accusation cannot be checked and can destroy an innocent person’s reputation.
  • A person reads it. We do not automatically remove a gathering because someone reported it.
  • We are not a police force, and we are not the courts. If a crime has been committed, report it to law enforcement.
  • We keep safety reports โ€” including if you later delete your account. A record that can be erased by closing an account is not a record.

9. Your account, and losing it

To delete your account, email hello@outsidechurch.org from the address on your account and ask us to delete it.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the Code of Conduct. Some conduct gets no second chance โ€” read the Code of Conduct, which is plain about it.

If we remove you, you may not come back under a new account. We know a new email address takes thirty seconds, and we cannot technically stop you. Doing it anyway is a deliberate breach of these terms, and every account you make that way is subject to removal on sight. If you think we removed you in error, email hello@outsidechurch.org and say so โ€” that is the route back, not a second sign-up.

10. No warranty

The intent of this section is settled; the final wording is with our legal counsel.

Outside Church is provided as it is. We do not promise the app will always work, that a gathering will happen as posted, or that anyone you meet through it is who they say they are or is safe to be around. We do not vet people.

11. You accept the risk of meeting strangers in person

The intent of this section is settled; the final wording is with our legal counsel.

Meeting people you do not know carries real risk. You decide whether to go, and you accept that risk. Outside Church introduces people. It does not supervise, guarantee, or insure what happens next.

12. Limit of our responsibility

This section is with our legal counsel and will be published when it is settled. Until then, sections 10 and 11 describe our position honestly: we introduce people, we do not vet them, and what happens at a gathering is not ours to control.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, where RECLAIMED.US is incorporated.

14. Changes

We may change these terms. If we do, we will post the new version here and update the effective date. If a change is significant we will tell members.
